GAISSA member Silverio Martínez Fernández delivered an invited talk on sustainable machine learning systems at the Erasmus Mundus SE4GD (Software Engineers for Green Deal) Summer School 2024 in Santiago de Compostela. The presentation focused on measuring and optimizing the energy efficiency of ML systems, a core research area within the GAISSA project.
GAISSA professor Silverio Martínez Fernández contributed to the prestigious Erasmus Mundus SE4GD (Software Engineers for Green Deal) Summer School 2024, hosted by the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
As the first academic speaker of the intensive five-day program, Silverio delivered a talk titled “Sustainable machine learning systems: from measurement to optimization of energy efficiency”. This presentation shared key insights and methodologies directly related to the GAISSA project's mission of fostering greener AI-based systems. The talk addressed crucial aspects of understanding, measuring, and ultimately reducing the energy footprint of machine learning applications, equipping the next generation of software engineers with knowledge for sustainable development.
