GAISSA Visits FrAmeLab to Discuss Sustainable Software and AI

In November 2024, GAISSA members visited the FrAmeLab research group at the University of L’Aquila to discuss sustainable and intelligent software systems. The visit included an invited lecture on AI sustainability and fostered collaboration on energy-efficient computing and responsible AI-driven development.
On November 2024 GAISSA members visited the FrAmeLab research group, led by Prof. Henry Muccini, at the University of L'Aquila for an engaging discussion on key challenges in sustainable and intelligent software systems. Topics included measuring the energy consumption of data centers and microservice applications, integrating human awareness into energy-efficient computing, and understanding the dependencies between AI and non-AI components in software architecting. As part of the visit, GAISSA members Silverio Martínez-Fernández and Santiago del Rey delivered an invited lecture on the environmental sustainability of AI systems to students from the Erasmus Mundus SE4GD and EDISS Master's programs. The visit fostered an enriching exchange of ideas, strengthening collaboration on responsible and efficient AI-driven software development.
