In February 2025, members of the GAISSA project played a key role in the CECAM-Lorentz workshop on "Greening AI with Software Engineering." Held in Lausanne, Switzerland, the event brought together experts to shape the research agenda for sustainable AI, with team members organizing, moderating sessions, and presenting their work.

Silverio Martínez-Fernández was an invited participant at the renowned Dagstuhl Seminar on "Power, Energy, and Carbon-Aware Computing" (PEACHES). The official report from this influential event, which brought together top researchers to solve key challenges in sustainable computing, is now available and features his contributions related to the GAISSA project.

A paper by the GAISSA team has been published as an open-access article in the Springer journal Computing. The research provides a detailed evaluation of various ML optimization techniques, offering practical guidelines for creating greener AI systems by reducing energy consumption during model inference.

GAISSA members Alexandra González and Vincenzo De Martino participated in the inaugural Hiili Congress, a key event bringing together leaders from government, industry, and academia. The congress focused on addressing the carbon footprint of AI, highlighting the urgent need for clear regulations, greater transparency, and collaborative efforts to align technological innovation with environmental responsibility.

Members of the GAISSA team actively participated in the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE) 2025, presenting multiple papers. The contributions covered key project themes, including a study on the adoption of green architectural tactics in ML systems and a paper on ensuring quality and energy efficiency in deep learning through MLOps practices.

GAISSA team member Alexandra González successfully defended her Master's thesis in July 2025. Her research introduces a new taxonomy to automatically classify thousands of Pre-Trained Models from open-source repositories for Software Engineering tasks, providing a valuable resource for practitioners and researchers in the field.
